The Super D: Saturday, September 20, 2008

Riders start by category from the Upper Cottonwood parking lot (at approx mile marker 16 on Hwy 160). Racers will experience the freedom of the wild horses that tramped these trails years ago, as they wind on the single-track through picturesque Joshua trees, descending about 8 miles and 1,000 feet.

The finish is the desert oasis of Blue Diamond; a small village nestled among cottonwood trees in the Red Rock area.

A single-track race reminiscent of old school, epic desert racing; the race begins with moderate but steady climbing for approximately one mile. Sport and Beginner riders head right down the twisty roller coaster known as Viagra.

Pros, Semi-Pros and Experts tackle the Late Night and Black Velvet trails. All categories merge back on the same course for the famous and fast red dirt. The Hurl awaits the Pros, Semi-Pros, Experts and Sports only; a long, hard section of rocky, technical, twisty trail followed by more of the same on the downhill.
